OpenCallbook collects only what's needed to serve the site and detect abuse.
What we log
- Request IP, path, status, and timing — kept for 30 days for ops and abuse mitigation.
- Search queries (the text you type plus the filters you apply) — kept for 90 days to power the public trends panel. No IP, no cookie, no per-user link. The trends are aggregate counts only — total searches, daily volume, top-searched states.
- Successful and failed API key uses (hashed key, timestamp) — phase 4 onwards.
What we don't do
- No cookies set by us.
- No third-party analytics, ad, or tracking pixels.
- No selling, sharing, or transferring user data to third parties.
FCC data
License data is sourced from the FCC's public ULS releases, which are in the public domain. We display each licensee's address exactly as the FCC publishes it — the FCC ULS public file already reflects each licensee's privacy preference, and licensees who request P.O. Box redaction at the FCC will appear with their P.O. Box. We don't second-guess the FCC.
If you have a concern or question about a specific record, contact us through the project repository.
